Building Trust in News
In May, Legacy members gathered for a discussion on building trust in news, both locally and globally. We were joined by Jeanne Bourgault of Internews and Michael Isip of KQED for a rich discussion that raised questions around what it is that inspires trust in news anchors, how the next generation will get their news, and how we might diversify material and content to engage and include diverse audiences.
Here are some of the resources that were mentioned during the conversation:
- If Cities Could Dance
- The Listening Post Collective
- KQED Swap Talk Series
- KQED newsletters—including KQED News Daily
- The Daily, New York Times Podcast
- The Cleaners—documentary explores global impact of major social media companies, portrays Filipino workers who comb through thousands of online images to filter out offensive content
- Internews Strategic Framework—including statistics on global trends and challenges
- Internews Mapping Information Ecosystems Framework
